Greeting! My name is Ms. Linda Young
As a passionate and dedicated individual, I strive daily to maintain a high standard of educational excellence for both my students and myself. Believing that every child possesses an innate desire and ability to create art, I take great pride in developing and maintaining a studentcentered learning environment and standardsbased curriculum through which diverse students of all levels and abilities are able to succeed. Students are immersed in both critical thinking and 21st century skill development as they explore creative processes and learn to communicate and express intent visually.
I consider myself a dedicated lifelong learner and strive to instill my love of learning in my students through example. After receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado in Boulder, I went on to attain my Masters of Education from Lesley University in Massachusetts. Most recently, I completed all of the coursework needed to become ESL certified through Regis University. In 2010, I became the first Adams County District 12 teacher to receive the Jared Polis Teacher Award, in recognition of the many hours above and beyond the school day that I dedicated to the students of Stukey Elementary through guided activities in order to ensure that success in the art room would transfer to success in the classroom. Through my involvement in the McRel Inquiry Academy, I then became the first district teacher to be certified by NASA to handle lunar rocks.
Additionally, I am passionate about peer collaboration and community involvement. I am looking forward to both sharing my experiences with the Silver Creek community as well as learning from all that you have to share with me. I am a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child and am looking forward to every opportunity that arises in which we can all work together to ensure our students succeed in all areas and make growth toward mastery.
Just as a book needs a reader, an artist needs an audience, and the students love to share their excitement and enthusiasm with others! So, please, feel free to stop by the art room and say, “Hello!”
