The 2019-2020 school year will be my 16th year as an educator. I began my career as an Autism paraprofessional at Bacon Elementary in Fort Collins, I was there for 2 years. I went on to teach for 9 years at Berthoud Elementary in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and Kindergarten. I became the Dean of Students for Mead Elementary and Niwot Elementary in 2015 and served in that position for 3 years. This year will be my second year at Silver Creek Elementary as the Assistant Principal.
I am a Colorado native. I was born and raised in Fort Collins, attended the University of Northern Colorado for my BA and MA and obtained my principal license through Colorado State University. This fall I will begin working towards my PhD through CSU in Education Leadership. I am so excited for this new challenge! I come from a family of teachers. My grandfather taught in the auto mechanics trade, my mom taught 5th grade for 30 years in Loveland, and my sister and her husband currently teach in Fort Collins. I also have two brothers (both living in Colorado) and my dad is a retired government contractor.
I have been married for 11 years to James. He is a wonderful and supportive partner. We are raising two sons. Ben is 10 and is energetic and funny. He plays the trumpet and enjoys a variety of activities outside of school. Bobby is 8 and enjoys doing stunts and playing soccer. We have a dog who is a rescued mutt named Greta. She needs lots of walks to keep her out of trouble! Last Christmas we adopted a cat and we named her Mistletoe (Missy).
Working at Silver Creek is the best place in the world to be. The students at Silver Creek are the hardest working and most engaged that I have ever seen. Our families and the community are involved and supportive. We have the best teaching staff that I have ever worked with and they love their jobs. I can't wait to see the smiling faces of our students this year.
