The 2020-2021 school year will be my 17th year as an educator. I began my career as an Autism paraprofessional and then went on to teach for 9 years at Berthoud Elementary in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and Kindergarten. I became the Dean of Students for Mead Elementary and Niwot Elementary in 2015 and served in that position for 3 years. This year will be my third year at Silver Creek Elementary as the Assistant Principal.
I am a Colorado native. I was born and raised in Fort Collins, attended the University of Northern Colorado for my BA and MA and obtained my principal license through Colorado State University. This year I will continue working towards my PhD through CSU in Education Leadership. I come from a family of teachers. My grandfather taught in the auto mechanics trade, my mom taught 5th grade for 30 years in Loveland, and my sister and her husband currently teach in Fort Collins. I also have two brothers (both living in Colorado) and my dad is a retired government contractor.
I have been married for 12 years to James. He is a wonderful and supportive partner. We are raising two sons. Ben is 11 and is energetic and funny. He plays the trumpet and enjoys coding Minecraft mods. Bobby is 9 and enjoys doing stunts and playing sports. Ben, Bobby and I LOVE to ski whenever we can.
Working at Silver Creek is the best place in the world to be. The students at Silver Creek are the hardest working and most engaged that I have ever seen. Our families and the community are involved and supportive. We have the best teaching staff that I have ever worked with and they love their jobs.
We have unique challenges to face this year, and the Silver Creek Staff has risen to the challenge, as usual. I look forward to connecting with everyone this year!
