I graduated from Metropolitan State College in December of 2001 with a major in behavioral sciences and a minor in Elementary Education. I received my Masters degree in curriculum and instruction from CU Boulder in 2005. I've taught first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. Before becoming a teacher I worked in the summer BASE as well as before and after school program for five years at Hunters Glen Elementary. My heart has always been with children and working with them. I come from a family of teachers, my mom was a teacher in this district for 30 years, my aunt, uncle, grandma, and grandpa were teachers as well. Before coming to Silver Creek Elementary, I taught at Cotton Creek Elementary. My first year there I taught fifth grade, and then the following nine years I taught fourth grade. This will be my eighth year here at Silver Creek. Three of the years were in fourth grade and this will be my fifth year in second. I can't believe I'm going on my 18th year of teaching!
I have been married to my husband Bryon for 15 years. Our 11 year old son Logan passed away November 3, 2016, he was a fifth grader here at Silver Creek. He was such an amazing kid and we miss him dearly. We also have our daughter, Adisyn, who is in fifth grade here at Silver Creek. I also have a 19 year old stepson, Dalton, who graduated from Horizon High School. He is attending Front Range Community College and doing the Thornton Police Department Explore program in hopes to become a police officer one day.
Outside of my passions of family and teaching, I love working out. I also enjoy taking Adi swimming, reading, relaxing, going up to the mountains, camping, hiking, going to church, teaching the children at church, and just hanging out with family and friends. I’m so thankful to be a part of Silver Creek Elementary’s staff, it’s an amazing place to work AND be a parent of a child.
