I am so overjoyed to be a Silver Creek Eagle and working with first graders! I adore the excitement and enthusiasm that comes with young readers and thinkers! After 10 years as a district Literacy Coach at Rocky Mountain Elementary and Federal Heights Elementary, I leapt at the chance to join the amazing staff, students and parents at SCE!
This year will be my 18th year as a teacher in Adams 12. Before becoming an Instructional Coach, I taught Kindergarten, First and Second grade. I attended CSU (Go Rams!) and received my degree in Biology and Premed, but after college decided instead to follow my love for working with children into teaching. Both my mom and grandma were Kindergarten teachers too! I received my Master’s degree and teaching certificate from CU Denver and then later my ESL endorsement.
I know first hand just how wonderful it is to be a Silver Creek Eagle, all three of my children have attended SCE! Our youngest son, Carter, is a second grader and our daughters, Taylor 13 and Avery 11, attend Rocky Top Middle school. My husband is also a teacher and teaches 7th grade math. Our summer and weekends are full of youth football and basketball and keeping up with our golden retriever puppy, Gopher. We love to hike, swim and spend time anywhere outside and near water.
I am so proud and grateful to teach at Silver Creek where my own children learned to love school and learning! I know this is the best place in the world for students to learn confidence, compassion and to succeed academically. I am so happy I get the amazing opportunity to watch our first graders discover the power and joy of learning to read and write every single day!
