I am entering my 22nd year in education. I started my teaching career as a long term substitute at Mary Blair Elementary (Loveland, CO.) and then as an elementary teacher at Fitzmorris Elementary (Arvada, CO.). After teaching, I became a high school dean of students at Horizon High School (where I was a varsity assistant baseball coach for 11 years). I then accepted a position as the assistant principal at Silver Creek Elementary. After 5 years, I was announced as the principal of Silver Creek Elementary in the summer of 2015. This school year (2020-21) will mark my 11th year at Silver Creek Elementary.
I am a proud product of Adams 12 Five Star Schools. I attended Pecos Jr. High and graduated from Northglenn High School in 1988. After high school, I earned my associate’s degree at Pratt Community College (KS) (on a baseball scholarship), my bachelor’s degree/teacher's license from the University of Northern Colorado, and my master’s degree/principal’s license from the University of Colorado @ Denver. I still love baseball. If I'm not watching baseball on tv or in person, you will find me on the Broomfield High School baseball field as an assistant varsity coach. I just finished my 13th season at BHS.
I am happily married with four children. My wife, Katie, works for the Colorado Dept. of Education in secondary special education. My son, Patrick (31), graduated from Broomfield High School, Otero Junior College, and the University of Nebraska-Kearney (where he played baseball) and earned his business degree. He is currently employed by Tesla in Seattle, Washington. My son, Parker (26), graduated from Broomfield High School and earned his business degree from CU Denver. He is currently an assistant managment at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. My daughter, Kennedy (9), is a 4th grade student here at Silver Creek Elementary. She loves being a S.O.A.R.ing Eagle and if you don't see her playing on the field or on the court, chances are she's riding a horse, creating art or singing/dancing. My daughter, Paige (4), is a bundle of energy and attitude. She is starting preschool this year and is at a very fun age. She loves riding her scooter, putting on make up and you will almost always see her wearing a dress.
I love sports (especially baseball) and music (especially concerts-which I have a very nice list of shows I have attended if you would like to see it :)). I am currently going through crazy withdrawals from not going to Rockies' games or attending any concerts, but I will survive. I love working with children and supporting them in their daily challenges, questions, and celebrations. I am honored to be an administrator at Silver Creek and in Adams 12 Five Star Schools. I love the challenge and opportunity of returning to a district that helped me become the person and educator that I am today.
