Each class at Silver Creek Elementary starts their day with a classroom meeting led by
the teacher and/or SELS to complete check ins, discuss mindfulness activities, support one another and start the day off with topics that are of interest to students pulled from their SEL planning with our SELS. Also, each week a grade level planned SEL lesson is taught with the classroom teacher and/or SELS focusing on any issues that need to be addressed and/or from Silver Creek’s scope and sequence for tier 1 universal practices.

The Silver Creek Elementary PTO continues to raise yearly funds through the Silver Creek Sneak and Carnival (money donations and no selling of items for students) for the school to help purchase additional technology equipment and support other building needs.  In the fall of 2018, our school received $130,000 in instructional upgrades from the Adams 12 Bond of 2016.  The instructional upgrades included: SmartWalls, wall-mounted projectors, new sound systems, and new document cameras in each classroom. In addition, we received over 20 new cameras for safety and security purposes (inside and outside). 

Silver Creek received a "Green up our Schools" grant to begin a compost program in the lunchroom, the only compost program originally offered in an Adams 12 school. The grant also provided funding to educate the students about the benefits of recycling throughout the school.

Silver Creek Elementary has so many volunteer opportunities that if you added all the volunteer time up over the course of one school year it would equal close to six-full time employees. That's a lot of volunteers helping in the classrooms and other areas throughout the school.  Many of our volunteers are also active members of the PTO (silvercreekpto.com).

Silver Creek one of the largest Crossing Guard program in the school district with over 25 adults volunteering as Crossing Guards.  We want all our students arriving and leaving school safely.

The Silver Creek Giving Committee and Student Leadership Club work together to teach the importance of "giving back" to those in need in the community. The students raise money and collect food for a local food bank, and donate new books, coats, and backpacks filled with school supplies for students at another school in the district.  The Silver Creek community has donated food, clothing, back packs, school supplies, books and money to others in need totaling nearly $30,000 since 2007.
